The children learnt about different African Masks and traditional designs. They papier mached their balloons that were cut in half (good to save other half for another project). They then designed their masks on paper. We used Resene paints which dry quickly and are hardy. All the beads and extras were glued on with a glue gun and then the masks were attached to their stands.
Dia de las Muertes the children learnt about this celebration held in Mexico and we talked about how it was a celebration of life and rememberance of those that have passed on. The children made their skeletons to different characters that we brainstormed. See if you can find the shopkeeper, surfer, skateboarder and princesses.
These were made by children aged 5 - 11. They made their own patterned paper which was used to "dress" their dolls. I love the little faces and whimsical smiles.
